Partner Profiles

Michael Guararra and Michael Zaitz first worked together in 1988 when they were both in the litigation department at Huber Lawrence & Abell, a then prominent boutique firm in New York. After practicing there for ten years, Mr. Guararra left HLA to create a litigation boutique firm specializing in tort/product liability defense and commercial litigation for companies in the manufacturing, real estate, and health care industries. Mr. Zaitz also left HLA in 1998 to join the New York office of the international law firm of Vinson & Elkins LLP where he continued his representation of clients in various industries including the software, media, securities, shipping, telecommunications, and insurance industries.

In January 2003, Messrs. Guararra and Zaitz decided to join forces again and formed Guararra & Zaitz.

Michael Guararra is a graduate of Oberlin College and St. John’s University School of Law. He is a member of the New York bar and is admitted to various federal district and circuit courts. He is also active in various bar organizations, including the Defense Research Institute. He is also a member of the Bar Association of the City of New York.



Michael Zaitz graduated with honors from Boston University Law School in 1988 after receiving bachelor’s degree in economics from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He is a member of the New York bar and is admitted to various federal courts. He is also a member of the Bar Association of the City of New York.
